NECF Building

A Place of Our Own

For almost 10 years, the NECF Malaysia office was housed in rented places and moved three times during
that period. Through God’s providence, the fellowship finally bought a two-storey corner shoplot in SS2, Petaling Jaya and in 1995, the NECF office moved in.

Initially, the upper floor was sufficient to contain the staff, and so the ground floor was rented out to generate income. But as the staff grew (in response to increasing ministry needs), more space was naturally needed.

Hence, in 1999, we claimed back the ground floor, and moved the resource area and boardroom downstairs. Right about that time, somebody donated plenty of carpet floor tiles, still in good condition. To save cost, the men in our office girded their loins (actually, they changed into shorts and T-shirts) and got down to glue the tiles. Even the boss, Kim Kong, rolled up his sleeves and laboured alongside his subordinates.

God was good: there were more than enough tiles to cover the whole ground floor and the office upstairs as well. Besides the boardroom and library, the ground floor also houses a conference room with a seating capacity of 80 people (theatre style), and a spacious covered area at the side of the building, which is used as a car park on regular days. Occasionally, the car park is turned into a refreshment area when we have special meetings.

Re-claiming the ground floor has been a wise move, saving us a sizeable amount of money and also time, as both rooms have been well utilised for small-group seminars, consultations and even special makan gatherings.

(Note: The conference room is available for rental to any members who need a meeting place. Contact our office for more details.)

The NECF building is a hive of activity with meetings and seminars going on throughout the year. The current office is certainly more functional compared with the previous one (inset) – NECF’s third and last rented office – in Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya.
