(AND THE ONLY COUNCIL MEMBER WHO HAS SAT IN THE COUNCIL SINCE NECF BEGAN 20 YEARS AGO)

“To be effective, council members need to get involved in the activities NECF organise. They need to make the time to be there with the people. Also, they must have a vision for the burden of the organisation.

God has blessed us with a great team all throughout and that’s one of the reasons why I believe NECF is where it is today. For the past 20 years, I have experienced the joy of seeing the Malaysian Church mature.

Also, my exposure to other churches and mingling with other pastors through my involvement in NECF have helped me to become a better pastor. Life is too short to make all the mistakes, so it has been helpful to learn from other people’s mistakes.”

PR ALBERT TAN
FGA CENTRE, PENANG

“Our first contact with NECF in the early 1980s was out of a need for help in our existence as a church. We also felt the need to clearly understand the issues in the nation that affect the Church and its freedom to worship. That, to me, is the first and fundamental purpose of NECF – to be the voice of Evangelicals in the country.

In the 1990s, we observe NECF expanding its role to organise unity events and conferences to bring churches to get her for prayer, evangelism and others. That too is necessary, as bigger churches are reluctant to join forces for city wide events, preferring to go it alone, while smaller churches are unable to host such events. NECF fits into the vacuum.

I would like to see the NECF take this role to the North as well as to the South instead of mainly in the Central part of West Malaysia, and definitely also to East Malaysia.”
