Prayer United - A National Platform for United Prayer

July 31, 2012

Dear Pastor/ Elder/ Leader

Re: PRAYER UNITED - a national platform for united prayer

Greetings in Jesus' name.

I begin this letter with a word of indictment of the Malaysian Church: Lack of unity. Lack of holiness. Lack of prayer.

This is the word from the Lord as discerned by a group of Malaysian church and prayer leaders who gathered recently to deliberate the state of our country and the role of Christians. It was a historic meeting that took place in early July 2012 which drew leaders across the board from mainline and evangelical denominations, from the Peninsula and East Malaysia. The vision was clear - the Malaysian Church must unite in prayer and holiness for lasting and transformative revival to happen in Malaysia.

To this end, NECF is pleased to announce PRAYER UNITED, a new platform for united prayer across churches and denominations. PRAYER UNITED was conceived out of the recent leaders' meeting. It is not to be a new organisation but an informal movement, coordinated by NECF and the Council of Churches of Malaysia, which will send prayer information out to all churches through their respective networks. Its objective is to serve as a link for unity and consistency in prayer, communication and information throughout all churches and prayer networks, so that prayers are united in purpose and focus.

PRAYER UNITED will focus on prayer specifically for the coming 13th General Election and Malaysia's 50th Jubilee.

Enclosed here is an announcement on the formation of PRAYER UNITED. We urge you to disseminate information and awareness about PRAYER UNITED among the intercessors in your church and to your congregation, and to participate in forthcoming prayer advisories.

Serving a mighty God,

Rev Chan Theam Lai
Secretary-General
NECF Malaysia
