NECF: May 13 Day of Prayer against Racism

10 May 2013

Dear Pastor/Elder/Leader

Re: May 13 Day of Prayer against Racism

The Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) is calling on all churches in Malaysia to organise and designate May 13 as a day of national prayer and forgiveness against racism. Christians are urged to observe this day through individual and private prayer as well as to to hold prayer services and vigils across the nation where feasible.

Pursuant to this call, NECF proposes that churches across the country designate May 13 as a national day of fasting and prayer against all forms of racial and ethnic discrimination and intolerance. We suggest that churches inform their congregations to fast if possible and pray in whatever ways they are accustomed to for the mutual acceptance of all people irrespective of race or creed as fellow Malaysians in this journey of our nation's history. Do also pray for peace and harmony as well as the Rule of Law to continue to prevail in this nation.

We trust that with our prayers and fasting, the dreaded memory of May 13 will be finally be put to rest and the dawning of a new day and season will come for Malaysia!

May God bless Malaysia.
