Prayer Alert (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

2012 World Prayer Assembly Jakarta

Description: May 14-18, 2012

May 2011

Dear Partners in Prayer,

Next year, the World Prayer Assembly will happen in Jakarta, Indonesia (May 14-18, 2012). 5000 to 7000 ministry leaders from all walks of life and from as many as 220 nations will gather for this once-in-a-generation "holy assembly" that will be jointly hosted by the Indonesian and Korean prayer movements.

The first such event, the International Prayer Assembly that took place in Seoul, Korea in 1984, launched the international prayer movement. Now it is again time to draw together the various strands of this diverse, far-flung movement so that we can learn from what God is doing to bring transformation to our world towards the fulfillment of His promise to fill the whole earth with the knowledge of His glory (Habakkuk 2:14).

The World Prayer Assembly will be a new paradigm for an international congress. The agenda will not just be following a conference program but giving God room to speak to us as we seek Him together, much like the early church leaders did at Antioch. In a similar way, and throughout this global gathering, we will incorporate significant times of prayer, listening and response to the Lord as we focus on paramount international concerns that need His transformation. As we together invest quality time to get on His wavelength, we believe that as at Antioch, the Spirit of the Lord will fill this congress with His presence and show us what His strategies are for the global prayer and mission movement as well as for us personally and corporately.

Raising up the younger generation to become cutting-edge leaders in the global prayer and mission movement will also be a central concern for the WPA. Therefore, younger leaders, youth, and children will make up one-third of the participants, and they will help plan and lead this assembly as partners. If you know current or aspiring ministry leaders under 30, please get this invitation to them and encourage them to join us in Jakarta.

Here are some criteria for those who should be invited to the WPA:

  • Ministry/ mission leaders - both from church and marketplace realms
  • Network leaders
  • Leaders who are serving in all walks of life such as the "seven mountains" or spheres of society (Arts/Media, Business/Marketplace, Church, Development of the Poor, Education, Family, Government)
  • Youth, student and child leaders
  • In other words, anyone with a heart for prayer who is making an impact in his/her community or sphere of influence

Your help in identifying such people from your network, nation or region that should come to the WPA would be deeply appreciated. We want to have the right people take part from every nation, and the best way to find them is through our existing relationships, so please help get the word out by passing this preliminary invitation on to them along with the attached flyer. All you encourage to come can find more information and register their interest on the WPA website at www.worldprayerassembly.com.

Thanks so very much for your help in this challenging yet thrilling effort, so filled with potential to see His glory fill and transform our world!

Yours in Christ,
Rev Andy Chi
