Having learned that "The Passion of the Christ" did not meet the regular guidelines of the censorboard for public screening, but believing strongly in the prime minister’s promise to uphold religious freedom in the country, NECF Malaysia made a bold attempt to appeal for a consideration of Christian sentiment. The movie was finally permitted to be screened to at least the Christian audience.

The film, which was reported as controversy and sparkled vigorous debates following its release early this year, focuses on the last 12 hours in the life of Jesus. The reality of Jesus’ death on the cross is the chief element, not only in the Gospel narration, but most significantly, the salvation of all mankind.

Regardless of various comments and critics, the film will indeed present Malaysian Christians with a "teaching moment" – to remind us the forgotten Christian basics.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16, NKJV)

Suggested prayer points:

1. Christians will be rekindled in their love and passion for Christ, our Saviour and Sacrifice
2. New Believers and those who are undergoing pre-Christian classes will find the show meaningful in the search for God.
3. For everyone who watches: a re-encountering or new encountering with Jesus will change life forever, according to God’s glory.
4. Administration: Smooth co-ordinating of booking and issuing of tickets between NECF office and the cinema operators, NECF office and the churches.
5. Piracy is a crime according to Malaysia Copyright Act.  Pray for Christians who have bought, possessed or even caused a pirated copy of movie to be publicly exhibited, that we will repent and find ways of restitution, apologize to those whom we have stumbled, especially the non-Christian friends.   
6. Pray for the youth who are involved in the commercial sale of pirated materials, and those involved in unauthorized reproduction.
