Deputy PM Praises Christians

A SHINING example on the willingness of Malaysians to help others in need, regardless of their religion or race. This was how a donation by NECF for Turkey’s earthquake victims was described by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi when the Christian fellowship gave RM50,000 towards the cause on August 24th.

Abdullah, who is also Home Minister, said in the New Straits Times that despite being a Christian movement it did not stop the NECF from contributing to Turkey whose population comprised mainly Muslims. “I hope other quarters will emulate this action,” he said after receiving the donaton from a delegation of NECF officials led by its chairman Datuk Dr Prince Guneratnam at the Home Ministry.

The Minister said the caring concept among Malaysians needed to be nurtured.
