DEEPEST CONDOLENCES OVER THE PASSING OF THE PEOPLE'S POPE
The Council of the National Evangelical Christian Fellowship of Malaysia (NECF) conveys our deepest sympathies and prayers on the passing of Pope Francis.
The beloved leader of the Roman Catholic Church was admired by all as the Pope of the People. He presented a humble face of the Church and chose a modest lifestyle. He was often genial and cheerful.
An outspoken advocate of the poor and oppressed, he was well known for his good deeds, extraordinary compassion and noble teachings.
He encouraged the Church to reach out to the hurting and embrace them into her fellowship.
He was not afraid to visit places experiencing conflict and even made trips to countries that previously had never hosted papal visits.
A great shepherd of the global Catholic Church, Pope Francis will always be remembered for his tireless effort to share both peace and hope across the world.
We stand in solidarity with our Catholic friends as you mourn the loss of Pope Francis. Together with you, we give God all glory for having raised such a shepherd during these challenging times that the world is facing.
May Pope Francis rest in peace. Amen.
